The Franklin County Prosecutor’s Office said Monday that Kaze Lounge, operating out of a former auto-body shop on Westerville Road in both Mifflin and Clinton townships, had been hosting late-night crowds without a liquor permit and had become a hotspot for violent incidents. Investigators said law enforcement was called to the area 45 times over five months starting in June 2025. Reports included shots fired, robberies, assaults, fights, large crowds, and people passed out in vehicles. Nearby businesses also complained of trash, beer cans, and liquor bottles left on their property. The most serious incident happened on Oct. 19 when a 20-year-old woman was killed and another woman injured in a hit-and-run in front of the club. Deputies reported a large crowd gathered outside Kaze as they responded. Just days later, investigators with the Ohio Investigative Unit executed a search warrant, seizing beer, liquor, drink tickets, and bracelets after determining the lounge was operating illegally. On Nov. 10, the Franklin County Prosecutor’s Office Nuisance Abatement Unit, along with multiple law enforcement agencies, filed a complaint seeking to shut down the club as a public nuisance.
