Professional Pickleball Association Tour tournament will draw thousands to Frisco.
Celebrities, hundreds of pro pickleball players and thousands of spectators will soon descend on theThe event begins with a celebrity tournament 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13 at 4900 Throne Hall Drive. Celebs in competition include Tony Romo, Scottie Scheffler, Dirk Nowitzki, John Isner and Jordan Spieth, according to Life Time.
The pro players kick off Friday morning, vying for $120,000 in prize money during three days of play, which will be broadcast live on the Tennis Channel. The event continues through Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. “Pickleball is a combination of tennis, badminton and table tennis and is the fastest growing sport in America,” Dan DeBaun, a spokesperson for Life Time, wrote in an email. “It’s a favorite pastime of celebrities and notables and is known for being easy to learn and incredibly addicting to play.”
Top pros for the sport hail from around the world, including Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Slovenia, Russia, Slovakia, France, Germany, Israel and Czech Republic.
