A federation of private schools on Saturday urged President Duterte to announce the creation of a separate bureau that would solely focus on their concerns in his upcoming SONA, Monday.
“Private schools have become marginalized because the Duterte administration has spoiled the public schools not much for what they need but for what they want,” Kasilag said. Based on the enrollment data issued by DepEd on July 25, there are only 1.30 million enrollees for the upcoming school year or 30.29% of last school year’s total enrollment.
Kasilag noted that at the onset of the pandemic, private schools have already appealed for subsidy – especially for its teachers. However, he noted that the “best that DepEd could do” was to notify the Inter-Agency Task Force .
