A Vietnam War veteran who was involved in carrying out hazardous operations against well-armed Viet Cong guerilla forces and soldiers has finally received his award for service, more than 50 years after returning home.
For their efforts in a helicopter assault force during the Vietnam war, a 10-person Australian-American unit received war medals, but one member couldn't be tracked down.
"I never realised there was such a thing until one of the blokes in the company wrote a book about memorabilia and I noticed there were only nine names on the list," he said.War animal recognition The Fleet Air Arm Museum in the south coast town of Nowra in New South Wales now has all 10 of the names on their honour wall.
