Wentworth deserves a modern revival more than other similar shows like Prison Break. Wentworth was an extremely popular Australian TV show until it ended in 2021. Set in a woman's prison in Melbourne, the series followed the lives and drama of the prisoners during their prison sentences. The show was a modern re-make of the Australian soap opera, Prisoner: Cell Block H. Despite the show being extremely popular around the world, it was canceled in 2021 after nine seasons and 100 episodes.
The show needed to come up with an alternative ending that would allow the show to continue past its ninth season. This led to the decision to bring back Joan"The Freak" Fergerson, the greatest villain of the whole show. This scene was filmed so secretly and at the last minute that extras in the scene were played by members of the crew. Even the main cast wasn't aware of the big reveal until they watched it on TV, and it gave audiences exactly what they wanted from the series.
