Prince Carl Philip was present throughout the birth. While the baby's name has not yet been revealed, she will be a princess and will be eighth in line to the throne behind her brothers.
The couple announced Sofia's pregnancy in September 2024, sharing the news with the public and revealing that their fourth child was expected in February 2025. They released a picture of themselves in front of a beautiful lake to accompany the announcement. This baby joins Prince Alexander, Prince Gabriel, and Prince Julian. In 2019, the Swedish palace announced that the children of Prince Carl Philip, including his younger son Prince Julian, would not be granted the HRH title. Prince Carl Philip stated that this decision was positive for his children, as it would allow them more freedom in life. Though they will not have the HRH title, they will retain their prince titles and their duchies, Södermanland and Dalarna. The family places great importance on these connections to the Swedish landscapes.Princess Sofia and Prince Carl Philip are both working royals and are now a family of six. They married in June 2015, and upon their marriage, Sofia was granted the title of princess.
