The Princess of Wales has issued a grovelling apology after admitting to editing a family photograph released to mark Mother's Day, which caused the world's biggest photo agencies to delete it from their libraries
Kate Middleton's Mother's Day photo has caused a bit of a stir in the Royal family, with a friend saying it was meant to be just an 'innocent family photo'.
The picture of Kate and her kids - Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, nine and Prince Louis, five - snapped by Prince Charles and shared by the palace on Sunday morning, was the first since Kate was in hospital for two weeks after tummy surgery on January 16. Kensington Palace was under growing pressure to explain the mistake after helpers wouldn't comment on Sunday about the growing rumours about the mess-up. After Kate's statement the palace still wouldn't say what parts of the picture had been changed or why.
The Waleses are known for sharing their own photos, often snapped by Kate instead of William, to celebrate special events like their children's birthdays. PR and crisis expert Mark Borkowski called the mess a "massive own goal" and suggested that the unedited photo should be shared to rebuild trust. "They are under pressure, massively under pressure, this is a massive own goal." The princess, 42, who is not expected to return to official duties until after Easter following abdominal surgery on January 16, was seen travelling in a car with William, 41, as he made his way to London for the Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey.
