The myrtle plant—which is an evergreen shrub that blossoms tiny white flowers and purple berries—has a long and important history as far as royal weddings go. According to Express, the tradition dates back to 1945 when Queen Victoria visited her husband Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha’s parents. The prince’s grandmother was also in attendance, and she gifted Queen Victoria a single sprig of myrtle.
Bea’s bouquet didn’t stop there, however.
