Lawyers for Prince Harry asked a judge Friday to rule that a tabloid newspaper libeled the British royal with an article about his quest for police protection when he and his family visit the U.K.
People walk past the Royal Court of Justice in London, Friday, March 17, 2023. The Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry is suing Associated Newspapers Limited over an article about his separate judicial review proceedings against the Home Office regarding security arrangements for himself and his family when they are in the UK. – over an article alleging he tried to hush up his separate legal challenge over the British government's refusal to let him pay for police security.
Harry’s lawyers have said the prince is reluctant to bring the couple’s children — Prince Archie, who is almost 4, and Princess Lilibet, nearly 2 — to his homeland because it is not safe. In July, Nicklin ruled that the article was defamatory, allowing the case to proceed. The judge has not yet considered issues such as whether the story was accurate or in the public interest.
