Both Megan Markle and Princess Diana are tied to Prince Harry’s favorite place.
The 37-year-old royal addressed the United Nations in New York City on Monday in honor of Nelson Mandela Day, and his speech covered how Mandela’s home continent of Africa has colored so much of his life and his life’s work.
"For most of my life, it has been my lifeline, a place where I found peace and healing time and time again," Prince Harry said during the UN speech. "It's where I felt closest to my mother and sought solace after she died, and where I knew I had found a soulmate in my wife." Markle traveled with Prince Harry to the event on Monday, and they held hands as they entered the building. Markle wore a pinky ring signifying women’s empowerment.and has a long record of visiting the continent for both business and pleasure. He’s been involved in humanitarian efforts concerning land conservation and endangered animals — and he and Meghan met and worked with Mandela’s relatives in 2019.In his speech, he explained that it’s not just Megan that ties his heart to Africa.
