King Charles' fractious relationship with his 'spare' son
In a tense meeting, a grieving Charles told his sons:"Please, boys. Don't make my final years a misery."The Duke writes in his memoir that he killed 25 people while serving in Afghanistan. Prince Harry has spoken about meeting members of the public following the death of his mother, saying"I disliked the touch of those hands".
"I wanted to cry, and I had tried, because my mother's life had been so sad that she had felt the need to disappear, to invent that monumental farce." On pages 112 and 113 he wrote:"Of course I had been taking cocaine at that time. At someone's house, during a hunting weekend, I was offered a line, and since then I had consumed some more.
The acknowledgements, on page 557, thank a lot of different people, including Princess Diana's siblings and his mother-in-law.He concludes by thanking the reader" for wanting to know my story in my own words".During Prince Harry's visit to a woman with"powers" to try and reach out to his late mother, he was told she was with him when his son smashed a Christmas ornament.
