King Charles’ coronation will see family members and friends of the King and Queen given official roles in the ceremony
The Coronation of King Charles takes place today, marking one of the most historic events in many Britons’ lifetimes. The ceremony is due to start at 11am and will see family and friends of Charles and Camilla, Queen Consort, foreign monarchs, politicians, world leaders, celebrities and everyday heroes in attendance at Westminster Abbey in London.
George is expected to be tasked with holding the train of Charles’ regal robes, making him the youngest future king to play an official role in a coronation. William and Kate are understood to have strongly considered whether George should take on an official role due to his age, but it is thought the decision was made after ensuring he was comfortable with carrying out such a public duty, The Telegraph reported.
The King’s pages are his grandson George, Nicholas Barclay, 13, grandson of Sarah Troughton, one of the King’s second cousins and one of the Queen’s Companions, Lord Oliver Cholmondeley, 13, son of the Marquess of Cholmondeley, also known as filmmaker David Rocksavage and a friend of the Prince of Wales, and Ralph Tollemache, 12, whose father Edward is the King’s godchild.
