Primark shoppers say 'this isn't even funny' as April Fool's joke monumentally backfires
Last weekend, Primark found itself becoming the butt of the joke with shoppers, after it shared an April Fool's joke which monumentally backfired. This year's April Fool's Day fell on Saturday April 1, but it seems as though Primark missed that memo.
Joy Haley said: "Assuming this post was intended for tomorrow?" Alison Cullen said: "Has this been published a bit early? Was this meant for tomorrow??" Some people, however, didn't quite grasp it was an April Fool's joke. Jenni Hernández slammed: "This is getting ridiculous. Why not offering in stead making clothes for people who don't wear cropped tops/sweaters, or bigger sizes? What about expanding to cities like Athens, Greece? What does fruit have to do with clothes?"
Soon after the original post was shared, Primark updated shoppers with a second, confirming that it was, indeed, an April Fool's. Primark told its followers: "Gotcha. April fools! We’ll leave the fruit & veg to the OG supermarkets. Who got fooled?"
