Christian Guardino was rapidly going blind by the age of 12, but thanks to an experimental treatment he has since championed, he has reached new heights on 'American Idol.'
Thursday night marks the start of Ukraine Freedom!, a three-day series of concerts to raise money for medical supplies and humanitarian aid. Sandy Kenyon has the story.

"When I was born, I was diagnosed with a very rare retinal disorder called leber congenital amaurosis," he said."And that's caused by a gene that's missing in your eye.""That's something that messed me up for a little while," he said.
