Nottingham Beach is back with fun in the sun in Old Market Square. Opening day was surprisingly busy with visitors of all ages descending on the manmade city centre beach.
If you still want the deep-fried flavour but not the fish, go for a Southern Fried chicken burger for £5. Children's portions of fish fingers or chicken nuggets and chips are priced £4.50.Not something you'd typically associate with the British seaside but the Greek gyros stall is a regular at both the beach and the Christmas market so they must be popular.
Burgers You don't really go to the beach and expect to eat a wholesome nutritious meal do you? The occasional burger now and then doesn't do any harm and a trip to the seaside is a trip, right? The price is £5 for the basic crepe but you can zhuzh it up with as many toppings as you like from a list including lemon and sugar, honey, Nutella, banana, strawberry and white chocolate, each costing £1.Sweet-toothed visitors, young and not-so-young, can munch on pick 'n' mix, costing £2.99 for 100g.
Some of the prices are more than you'd pay in a typical Nottingham pub or bar but then again they are nowhere as expensive as arenas up and down the country. And remember, no one is forcing you to drink here but there are plenty of folk enjoying the summery surroundings.
