KUALA LUMPUR, June 15 — Health Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa has given her assurance that engagement and analyses will be done before any price restructuring for public healthcare services.“This review of the medical fee structure... currently, the rate charged in the public sector is minimal.
“In fact, the Ministry of Health also has no mechanism to collect excess fees even though there are patients who are willing and want to pay more because they value the comprehensive services that they receive,” Dr Zaliha told Parliament in her winding-up speech on the Health White Paper. She added that the most important consideration would be ensuring that lower income and vulnerable groups are not affected by any possible change and will still have access to healthcare services.
