Pressure WWII Thriller Set for Digital Release After Theatrical Run
Pressure MovieWorld War II FilmBrendan Fraser

The World War II film Pressure, starring Brendan Fraser as Eisenhower and Andrew Scott as weather forecaster James Stagg, will be released on VOD June 16 and on physical media July 28. The movie has earned strong critical and audience scores but has grossed $15 million worldwide against an $80 million budget.

The upcoming World War II thriller Pressure, directed by Anthony Maras, focuses on the critical 72 hours leading up to the Allied invasion of Europe and highlights the essential meteorological work of Captain James Stagg in ensuring favorable conditions for D-Day.

The film, which premiered in theaters on May 29, features Brendan Fraser as General Dwight D. Eisenhower and Andrew Scott in the role of Stagg. Universal Pictures has announced that Pressure will be released on video-on-demand platforms beginning Tuesday, June 16. It will be available for rental and purchase through major digital retailers such as Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video, and Fandango at Home. A physical media release, including 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD editions, is scheduled for July 28.

These home releases will contain bonus material exploring the production of the film. Pressure has received strong reviews from both critics and audiences. On Rotten Tomatoes it holds an 86% critics score, earning a Certified Fresh rating, while the audience Popcornmeter reaches 95%, reflecting broad approval. At the box office, the film continues its theatrical run with a worldwide gross of just over $15 million, including $14 million domestically and $1 million internationally.

Produced on an $80 million budget, it is unlikely to achieve profitability during its cinema run. However, the movie delivered Brendan Fraser's strongest opening weekend since 2014's The Nut Job, with $5.4 million in North America. The cast also includes Kerry Condon, Chris Messina, and Damian Lewis. For Fraser, Pressure follows recent projects such as Diamond (2026), Rental Family (2025), and Brothers (2024).

The film's release precedes his anticipated return as Rick O'Connell in The Mummy 4, slated for October 15 next year, with Rachel Weisz also reprising her role. Pressure serves as a historical drama spotlighting a lesser-known but pivotal figure behind D-Day's success, blending meticulous period detail with character-driven storytelling. Its transition to digital and physical formats aims to reach a wider audience beyond the theatrical window, despite its modest box office performance relative to its production cost
