President Trump repeatedly smears John McCain in weekend tweets, seven months after his death by kadiatubman
President Trump doubled down on his weekend attacks against John McCain in light of new evidence behind the Trump-Russia dossier.
The unverified 35-page dossier, which was leaked to media and published by Buzzfeed in January of 2017, alleges the Trump campaign colluded with Russia to defeat Hillary Clinton in 2016 presidential election. It had been reported that McCain was behind the leaked dossier, which was compiled by former British spy Christopher Steele. The Steele dossier is at the core of special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigations, which the House unanimously voted this week to make public.
But this was not before the election, as Trump boldly claimed in all caps. In a revealed court deposition, Kramer admitted he had been first briefed on the dossier by a former British diplomat after the 2016 election on November 19. McCain had also been briefed and then in the following weeks, gave the reports alleging conspiracy between the Trump campaign and Russian government to former FBI Director James Comey.
McCain’s daughter Meghan, came to his defense Saturday, responding to Trump in a tweet: “No one will ever love you the way they loved my father.... I wish I had been given more Saturday’s with him. Maybe spend yours with your family instead of on twitter obsessing over mine?”Trump’s attacks are a part of longstanding feud between the late Republican Senator and former Navy pilot. In 2015, Trump, who’d received four student deferments from the draft, said McCain was not a war hero.
