The new presidential administration promotes the myth that DEI efforts have victimized white males.
Diversity , equity and inclusion programs have provided Americans with the philosophical guidance and practice methods of an evolving and educated citizenry. DEI programs have taught us to check facts and to question past knowledge and assumptions. These efforts have been a wonderful process to expand one’s thinking as well as promote improvements in the workplace, community and family.
Americans should continue to grow in their DEI understanding as a basic principle of democracy in a free and diverse society. We should continuously learn from our history however tragic and discriminatory it was. We all know that equity in wages, access to quality health care, equal education, safe housing, access to employment are still not realities for everyone. Common sense and fact-checked data indicates we have much more DEI work to do.
They demand that we deny our collective past and accept their distorted version of what the United States is. This is part of their racist and sexist agenda to reshape our society. Their effort to rewrite our history of slavery, Jim Crow, inequality and the extermination of the indigenous peoples has unfortunately gained momentum. They do not want us to rely on facts and common sense to improve our lives and the lives of other Americans.
