TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Help is on the way for some Big Bend counties after President Joe Biden approved an emergency declaration, freeing up federal money for people impacted by Hurricane Debby.
Locally, funding is available for Hamilton, Lafayette, Levy, Suwannee, and Taylor counties, according to The White House.Grants for temporary housing and home repairsPrograms to help individuals and business owners recover from the effects of the storm “We will continue to ensure every possible resource becomes available for impacted homeowners and businesses,” said Florida Division of Emergency Management Executive Director Kevin Guthrie in a statement.
Officials reported damage assessments are still going, so more counties could be added to the list. Additional forms of assistance could also become available, pending the conclusion of all damage assessments.
