A new food hall, Prescott Market, is set to open its doors in West Oakland in March, injecting new life into the historically rich and diverse neighborhood. The 12,000-square-foot space on 18th Street at Peralta Street will be home to a diverse array of food and beverage vendors, including local favorites like Almanac Brewery, High Wire Coffee, Pizzeria Violetta, Fast Times Burgers, Woo Can Cook, and Prescott Meats & Deli. The market aims to become a hub for community-minded entrepreneurs and a gathering place for residents and visitors alike.

Excitement is building for a new food hall opening in the coming months in West Oakland where community leaders have been working to revitalize the diverse and historically rich area. 'Get ready for the grand opening of Prescott MarketWest Oakland ’s very own market hall,' site officials said on Instagram earlier this month. The market will feature a variety of food and beverage businesses in a 12,000-square-foot industrious space on 18th Street at Peralta Street.

The space will be filled with vendors including Almanac Brewery, High Wire Coffee, Pizzeria Violetta, Fast Times Burgers, Woo Can Cook, and Prescott Meats & Deli. The site was looking for two more businesses to join the food hall. Prescott Market officials said they're seeking to create a platform for emerging, community-minded entrepreneurs. 'Our ideal partners are those who share our vision for community-building and are committed to contributing to the growth and revitalization of the neighborhood,' Prescott Market Founder Joe Ernst said in a media release announcing the tenants at the upcoming site. Besides Almanac Brewery, out of Alameda, all of the other vendors are Oakland-based. Many have been a part of the Prescott Night Market that launched in 2024. The night market became a popular pregame meeting spot for baseball fans attending Oakland Ballers' inaugural year at the newly renovated and nearby Raimondi Park. The night markets are set to return this year. The area has also been the site of a bustling farmers market on Sundays, all part of an ongoing effort to revitalize and update a neighborhood steeped in history. This is a place where heritage and innovation coexist,' Ernst said. The West Oakland neighborhood is known for being one of the first American settlements in the East Bay and served as a diverse hub for immigrants. Prescott operators said developers were working to restore and repurpose seven to nine existing buildings in the historic district, with the goal of returning them 'to their original glory… with the centerpiece being a wonderful gathering space for great food, drinks and entertainment.' They also noted that the area has historically been underserved when it comes to both retail and culinary needs, and the market seeks to help bridge that gap. The food hall is set to open in March. 'Prescott Market is more than a Market — it's a destination, a cultural hub, and a daily ritual for the community,' Ernst said. 'Prescott Market is aesthetically beautiful, inspired, and well-curated, where people can come together and experience a vibrant culture and community spirit.
