STANFORD, California — A preschool teacher who is a suspect in the murder of a 24-year-old man was arrested at the school as the children napped, police say.
Diana Ornelas, 22, of Santa Clara, Calif., was taken into custody Wednesday at the preschool, which is on the main campus of Stanford University. Another suspect, Dennis Novoa, 27, of San Jose, Calif., also was arrested Wednesday at a separate location.that Ornelas was a teacher at the Children’s Center of the Stanford Community, but has been fired after her arrest.
Both Ornelas and Novoa are suspects in the death of Oliver Waterfall, a San Jose resident whose body was found on a hillside near a highway on April 11, 2023, according to police. Waterfall died of a gunshot wound. Police say the motive in Waterfall’s slaying is “believed to be of a personal nature,” but offered no further details.
