The infamous “Preppy Killer” who brutally strangled a teenage girl inside Central Park more than three decades ago was released from prison Friday.
After Levin yet again shared her deep feelings for Chambers inside Dorrian’s in the early hours of Aug. 26, 1986, Chambers led her away to Central Park to have sex near the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
The 19-year-old savagely beat her with his fists and smothered her with his denim jacket before bolting from the scene.A bicyclist called 911 after finding Levin’s battered corpse clad in a miniskirt with her legs spread-eagle and her blouse and bra pushed up to expose her breasts. After springing countless lies, Chambers eventually admitted to cops that he killed Levin — but claimed it had been during a round of rough sex.Under a plea deal, Chambers pleaded guilty to manslaughter and received five to 15 years in prison. He was back behind bars just two years later after being convicted of a misdemeanor drug charge but was given a light 90-day sentence.
