The crown was added later and situates the lights in perfect position for the soccer pitch, where moveable stands hug the sidelines. Many of those lights aren’t perfectly situated for a baseball diamond. As it turns out, analytics doesn’t just apply to baseball; it also applies to chickens. Apparently 17,000 birds could be contained by 53,000 square feet of chicken wire. That’s plenty of free-range chicken.The playing field was another story.“We went this route because it made so much damn sense,” Cook said. “And thank god we did. It rained 16 of the first 18 days we were here. I mean, it rained every day. We just wouldn’t have been able to get things down when we wanted to.
Instead, with the second London Series scheduled for next June 14-15 between the Chicago Cubs and the St. Louis Cardinals, MLB is all set. “It made it big enough, wide enough,” Cook said. “It was tight. Could we make it? Yeah. We started tweaking things. Where to put home plate? Eventually we put it right on the center line so we can get our dimensions in."
