An atmospheric river heading for the Pacific Northwest is going to bring wet and windy weather to western Washington starting on Friday, although Vancouver Island will take the brunt of the heaviest rainfall.
Wind will be the most noticeable storm feature for all of us. Seattle will see wind gusts of 20-30 mph as breezes build through Friday afternoon and continue into Saturday morning. That wind advisory also includes western Snohomish County and north Kitsap Peninsula. Edmonds, Mukilteo, Everett, and our islands will see gusts of 30-40 mph.
Despite Vancouver receiving much more rain, the plume of moisture will sag south at times. The atmospheric river will channel copious water vapor directed toward us.
