Staff Reports In a battle that went down to the wire, Rehobeth edged Providence Christian in a five-set battle, winning the decisive fifth set 15-13 to take the Class 5A, Area 2 Tournament title at the Rehobeth gym Thursday night.
In the championship match, Rehobeth was led by Kryslin Martin with 23 kills, three assists, six blocks and 16 digs and Helen Williamson with eight kills, two assists and 22 digs. Kerigan Freeman earned nine kills and four digs, while Carolyn Merrill had six kills, two aces and 15 digs. Reese Colbert amassed 31 digs and two kills for PCS, while Dantzler Dowling had eight kills, two digs and two block assists. Marlie Kate Maddox added seven digs and Selah Kuwahara had six digs.
For Providence in its semifinal win over Headland, Brown earned 15 kills, four aces and 14 digs and Houston delivered 32 assists, two aces and 10 digs. Bailey followed with 12 kills, three aces and nine digs. Dowling had nine kills and Ingram three kills. Maddox added nine digs. For the Tigers during the day, Kyla Richardson earned 32 kills, seven aces, seven blocks and 12 digs and Addie Tyler delivered 42 assists and six digs. Shelby Streeter amassed eight kills, seven aces and eight digs and Julianna Kline had 10 kills, three aces, four blocks and two digs.
