Staff Reports Ella Houston pitched a seven-inning, four-hit shutout with 11 strikeouts to lead Providence Christian to a 6-0 win over city rival Northside Methodist in a Class 3A, Area 3 high school softball game on Tuesday.
Offensively, Kinley German and Maylee Lancaster had three hits and a run batted in each to lead Dothan’s 12 hits. German had two doubles. Kendrick added a double and an RBI. Baker picked up the win, pitching the last four innings, striking out nine and pitching one-hit shutout ball. Nichols started and struck out six over four innings.Houston Academy 10, Andalusia 0: Braya Hodges struck out 13 and pitched a five-inning two-hit shutout and Emily Maddox belted a three-run homer to lead Houston Academy in the Class 4A, Area 3 contest.
Anna Claire Free struck out 10 over all nine innings. She gave up just five hits and three runs with only two runs earned. Enterprise 15, JAG 7: The Wildcats scored nine runs in the top of the seventh to extend a 6-3 lead to 15-3 before allowing four late runs in a Class 7A, Area 3 win in Montgomery. Wicksburg 15, Cottonwood 0: Ellie Cox and Dahlia Ganz pitched a three-inning no-hitter with six strikeouts and just one walk and the Panthers scored 10 runs in the second inning to take command.
Sarabeth Henry added two hits and two runs batted in and Taylor Trawick had a single and RBI. Jenkins finished with four RBI overall. Ally Zorn hit a two-run homer for Samson. Makayla Phillips was the winning pitcher, working five innings. Ryleigh Jackson recorded a save, working two innings of relief, including retiring the side in the seventh.
Kinston 16, Pleasant Home 0: Lauren Norris struck out 11 of 12 batters and pitched a four-inning perfect game in the Class 1A, Area 2 contest. Caitlin Webb and Reese Peters were both 2-for-4 with two runs batted in with Peters belting a homer and Webb two doubles. Beth Dixon added a double.
