Players were in a dorm room fooling around with a gun. It went off. The bullet killed Dranel. He was 19. Amare would drop out of school and give up football. Two years later, he enrolled at Granada Hills Kennedy, got back off the floor, became eligible academically and returned to playing the game he has always loved.
