Staff Reports Dothan swept a Class 7A, Area 3 doubleheader over Percy Julian on Tuesday night at the Dothan campus, winning 14-0 and 9-1.
In game two, Douglas Cowart and Graham Davis combined on a four-inning two hitter with five strikeouts. Cowart pitched the first two innings and struck out three, giving up the run and two hits. Davis worked the last two innings, striking out two. Brady Cavanaugh had an RBI single in the fourth for Enterprise. The Wildcats loaded the bases after the hit off walks to Brady Richardson and Cayden Boutwell, but Prattville’s Piper got a fly out and strikeout to end the threat.EHS pitcher Austin Chapell struck out five over six innings and limited the Lions to three runs despite allowing nine hits.
John Michael Mordecai had two hits for the Knights, including a two-run single, and Chase Collins had a run-scoring single. Cole Breedlove was hit by a pitch with the bases-loaded to force in the fourth NMA run.Jack Alvord, the first of four Knights pitchers, picked up the pitching win, working the first four innings. He struck out seven and pitched shutout ball, while allowing three hits. Hicks, the last of the pitchers, earned a save in the final inning.
Blake Godwin had two hits, while Coy Paramore and Clayton Johnson had a single and RBI each for Ashford, which finished its season with a 0-16 record. Houston County 18, Abbeville 8: Clay Hand was 5-for-5 with three doubles and three runs batted in to lead the Lions’ win. Noah Robinson added a single and Asher Puent had an RBI off a bases-loaded hit by pitch for the Warriors.
