Arsenal continued to strengthen their top-four hopes in the Premier League after defeating Manchester United 3-1 on Saturday afternoon. Read more ➡️

United welcomed back Cristiano Ronaldo from the capitulation at Anfield and dropped captain Harry Maguire with Arsenal recalling Cedric Soares as their only change from the win at Chelsea.

Arsenal’s lead was under threat following the midway stage after Diogo Dalot dropped a shoulder on the edge of the area and clattered the woodwork courtesy of a speculative strike. The Red Devils were revived minutes later after Ronaldo got ahead of Gabriel in the area and directed Nemanja Matic’s cross into the near corner for his 100th Premier League goal. Both sets of teams had chances following the closing seconds to halftime with an improvised volley outside the area by Telles and a curler on the edge of the box by Martin Odegaard.

United didn’t lose hope minutes thereafter and had a first-time strike from Ronaldo disallowed for offside before seeing goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale palm Dalot’s rasping shot against the upright.
