Manchester City have seen the reactions to this international break and know what is in store in a month's time
High up on the list of things that Premier League managers hate comes losing before an international break.
Brighton, for instance, have enjoyed this last week a lot more than Newcastle. Their defeat to West Ham was quickly forgotten when they thumped Eddie Howe's team whereas that result has left the former Bournemouth boss seeing his side's start of three losses in four picked over. Games against West Ham, Nottingham Forest, and Wolves all offer up further opportunities for points but the real tempter for the Blues will be their trip to the Emirates on October 8. That will be their first game against a serious title contender and also happens to be the last game before another international break.
