) - Millbrook police say a Prattville woman was arrested after officers responded to a report of a theft in progress at a Walmart supercenter.
According to police, officers were called to the store on July 13, where Walmart loss prevention personnel reported an unidentified woman had been inside the business for several hours. Investigators say the woman was seen walking through the store, concealing items inside her purse and a bag she obtained while inside, and also placing items into a shopping cart. Police say the woman went through self-checkout, scanning and paying for only a limited number of items.
She then allegedly passed the last point of sale and left the store without paying for multiple items, which were later determined to be worth more than $1,500, police said. The suspect was later identified as Brandy M. Barlow, 43, of Prattville, and was detained and arrested at the scene, according to Millbrook police. She was charged with Retail Theft, 2nd Degree.
Police say Barlow was taken to the Millbrook Police Department for questioning and processing, then transported to the Elmore County Jail, where she was booked on a $15,000 bond.
