KUALA LUMPUR: Prasarana Malaysia Berhad expects to see a rise in the number of passengers after the Hari Raya Aidilfitri festive season, says its group chairman, Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman.
"There was a drastic drop in the number of passengers by about 90% when the movement control order was implemented by the government, but the numbers are gradually increasing again under the conditional MCO.
Tajuddin attributed the increase in ridership to strong public confidence in social distancing and safety measures implemented by Prasarana for its services."Disinfection is carried out daily, not only on the buses and trains but also at every station," he added. "So far, compliance with social distancing is 100%, as Malaysians are usually a very disciplined lot," he said.
He said this included limiting the number of passengers to 20 at boarding platforms to avoid overcrowding.
