While MLB's wild card teams are playing for real, the Guardians continue to practice for the main event.
Tyler Freeman, who started 82 games in center field this year with the Guardians, is spending this week with the team working out at Progressive Field in preparation for the ALDS on Saturday.CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The first day of MLB’s wild card series ended Tuesday leaving Detroit, Kansas City, San Diego and the Mets one win away from advancing to the division series.
To keep everyone as engaged as possible, the Guardians have invited some friends from Class AAA Columbus, whose season ended recently in the International League playoffs. The invitees include:Brito, Nunez, Enright, Lavastida, Nikhazy and Pries are the only ones who did not spend time with the Guardians during the regular season. The rest are familiar faces such as:Allen, whose eight wins rank third among Guardians pitchers even though he last appeared in a big league game on Aug. 26.
Matthew Boyd, in line to start Game 2 of the ALDS on Monday at 4:08 p.m., is scheduled to pitch a simulated game today. Carrasco, Nikhazy, Joey Cantillo and Pedro Avila are also scheduled to pitch.
