It’s the fourth-largest lottery jackpot in U.S. history and the second-largest Powerball jackpot.If you’re an Ohio resident and you haven’t checked your numbers, don’t toss that ticket yet ... at least one ticket sold in Ohio matched five numbers in Monday’s drawing and is worth $1 million.
Tickets sold in Florida, New York and Oklahoma matched five numbers and the Power Play number and are each worth $2 million. The largest lottery jackpot in U.S. history was a 2016 Powerball prize of $1.586 billion, which was shared by winners in California, Florida and Tennessee. The second-largest jackpot was a $1.537 billion Mega Millions prize on Oct. 23, 2018. A single winning ticket was sold in South Carolina.
At No. 3 is a $1.337 billion Mega Millions jackpot on July 29 of this year, with the winning ticket sold in Illinois. No. 5 is a $1.05 billion Mega Millions jackpot on Jan. 22, 2021, with the winner sold in Michigan.
