Guns N’ Roses, Iron Maiden, AC/DC, Judas Priest, Metallica and Tool will take over the Empire Polo Club in Indio for Goldenvoice’s inaugural Power Trip on Oct. 6-8.
Trujillo isn’t he only one currently having a bit of a pinch-me-moment. Tool bassist Justin Chancellor is feeling the same. Trujillo and Chancellor are the youngest players on the lineup and they’re also neighbors and longtime friends.
Between these six acts, there are a number of top-selling and charting hits and fan-favorites. Those in attendance are going to experience live some of the biggest rock and heavy metal songs of the past five decades. “There are times where we’re going into a particular show and even the immediate members of the band, meaning primarily James , Kirk and myself, we don’t even know the set because Lars oversees that,” he said. “So right now, I can’t tell you what the set will be like. Will we pay ‘Master of Puppets?’ Yes, probably. That’s about as much as I know of the song selection right now, but I know it will be fun.
“The presentation is very planned out with the stage visuals and we have a real dynamic in there where it builds and builds, goes into a break then Danny will do his drum thing and we’ll build back up,” he said. “It’s easier when you’re in control of the whole thing, but at festivals, we kind of take the bare bones of what we do in our own show and get rid of the breaks so we can get cookin’ again.
