Some lights on East 9th Street flipped back on a little after 8 a.m. Friday morning.The City of Cleveland provided the following statement:

Preliminary information indicates that a failed underground cable was determined to be the cause of the temporary outage. Upon learning of the incident earlier this morning, CPP quickly took action to reroute power around the fault. Their quick response helped restore power within a couple hours before the increased morning rush hour traffic. Power was restored approximately 55 minutes ago to the traffic signals downtown, including along East 9th Street and along Euclid Avenue.

According to the Ohio Revised Code, drivers must treat an intersection with a disabled traffic light as a 4-way stop.
