Power Rangers missed out on an incredible crossover opportunity during the Disney era, and it still bothers me over 20 years later. While Power Rangers tried to keep roughly the same cast during what became known as the Zordon era, the franchise switched to standalone seasons in 1999 with Power Rangers Lost Galaxy. As a result, Power Rangers now had the opportunity to do crossover episodes in which the current heroes would team up with the previous team.
Why Power Rangers Didn’t Have A Wild Force & Ninja Storm Crossover Ninja Storm Was The First Power Rangers Season Filmed In New Zealand Close Power Rangers Wild Force was already in production when Disney acquired Fox Family in 2001 in a package deal that included Saban Entertainment titles such as Power Rangers. Now owned by Disney, Power Rangers moved production to New Zealand and focused even more on standalone seasons over interconnected stories.
While this approach wasn’t that different from what Saban had already been doing since 1999, switching the show to New Zealand meant that bringing back actors from previous seasons would now be more difficult since they were mostly based in Los Angeles. Between Ninja Storm being the beginning of a new era for the franchise and the logistics of flying the entire cast of Wild Force to New Zealand for just an episode, Disney had enough reasons not to make this crossover.
