Helmed by creator, executive producer, director and writer Ann Druyan, this 13-episode season continues the legacy Druyan began with Carl Sagan 40 years ago. Hosted by astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, it’s a triumphant voyage through humanity’s past, present and future, taking viewers to previously uncharted territories and turning complex themes of science and exploration into a mind-blowing odyssey beyond the realms of the imagination. In this penultimate episode, “Coming of Age in the Anthropocene,” the series asks viewers what kind of world can a child born in 2020 expect to grow up? When did our slide into planetwide environmental destruction begin? Enter the possible world that awaits a 2020 baby in her twenties: one darkened by our refusal to confront the real and mounting challenges we face but one which still offers a message of hope.
