Dan Perez of Poteet said he's still in shock after getting the phone call to say he's the big winner of the St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway. “At first, I couldn't believe it. I was driving on the way home and someone kept blowing up my phone, and I was like, ‘Is this an emergency? What’s going on?" said Dan Perez, St.
Jude Dream Home winner. "The first thing was I started worrying about my father because he's older. That’s one of the main reasons I wanted to buy this ticket, because we wanted a nice house for us to live in together.” Perez says he and his family are still in shock over getting the call and winning the dream home valued at nearly $700,000. He also said he bought a single ticket shortly after they went on sale. Perez is looking forward to moving his entire family, including his kids and his 73-year-old dad, all under one roof. He’s also grateful for all the money raised for a great cause. “To be quite honest, I never thought I was going to win. My wife and I really don’t have a lot of money, and she was like, ‘Are you sure you want to do this?’ And I said, ‘Why not? Either way, it’s going for a great cause,'" Perez said. "I always see St. Jude on TV, and I’ve always wanted to help.” As of last night, Perez hadn’t told his dad about winning the dream home and is hoping to surprise him.
