A bill that was approved unanimously by state lawmakers would make New York the 42nd state to outlaw nonconsensual sharing of intimate images
New York lawmakers approved a bill Thursday outlawing so-called “revenge porn” and allowing its victims to seek a court order requiring websites to remove any illicit images.
Advocates of the bill said revenge porn—the nonconsensual posting or dissemination of intimate images, often after the end of a romantic relationship—is a growing problem. Victims suffer embarrassment and in some cases have lost their jobs.
