A dynamic and collaborative lab at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to join their team. This position focuses on leveraging multi-omics data, spatial omics data, and image data to reveal cancer-specific mechanisms underlying treatment responses. Candidates will contribute to pioneering research, developing cutting-edge statistical models and computational methods, and receive extensive training in grant writing.

A full-time postdoctoral fellow position is available in Dr. Ye Zheng's lab at the Department of Bioinformatics and Computational Biology, the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Zheng's lab focuses on problems at the intersection of statistical, computational, and biomedical sciences. The lab has developed methods to decipher gene cis-regulatory mechanisms from transcriptomics, epigenomics, proteomics, and three-dimensional (3D) chromatin interaction perspectives.

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated postdoctoral researcher to join our dynamic, hybrid, and highly collaborative lab. This computational genomics postdoctoral fellow candidate is expected to leverage single-cell/bulk-cell multi-omics data, spatial omics data, and image data to reveal the cancer-specific mechanisms underlying the differential efficacies and toxicities of treatment across patients. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to pioneering biological, clinically important, and methodologically challenging problems by innovating cutting-edge statistical models and computational methods. This position provides extensive training in grant writing, with a focus on prestigious early career development grants such as the K99 and Damon Runyon awards. Candidates with a Ph.D. in Statistics, Computer Science, Biostatistics, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field are encouraged to apply. Required Qualifications: • Proficient in programming languages R, Python, and Shell, with extensive usage of high-performance computing environments on Linux servers and the ability to submit batch-run jobs. • Experienced in processing and analyzing bulk/single-cell genomic data, spatial omics data, or image data. • Experienced in developing computational tools, such as R packages, Python modules, interactive webpages, and computational pipelines. To apply, please email the following to Dr. Ye Zheng at [email protected]: (1) a cover letter describing past contributions to the field, future research plan, career development plan, scientific motivation, and interests that align with Dr. Zheng's lab, (2) a curriculum vitae that includes publications and GitHub links of past project codes or developed software.

Cancer Report: Deaths Down, But Alarming Rise in Women and Young Adults DiagnosedCancer Report: Deaths Down, But Alarming Rise in Women and Young Adults DiagnosedThe American Cancer Society's latest report presents a mixed outlook on cancer trends. While overall cancer deaths have decreased significantly, driven by earlier detection and improved treatments, the report reveals a concerning increase in cancer diagnoses among women and young adults. The report also highlights persistent racial disparities in cancer deaths and stresses the need for more effective strategies to combat pancreatic cancer, which remains a leading cause of cancer-related deaths.
