NY Assembly candidate caught stealing rival's flyer from homeowner's mail box

A US Postal Service worker allegedly tossed about 300 mailers in support of New Jersey Republican Rep. Tom Kean, Jr., into a dumpster outside a Pennsylvania supermarket two weeks ago — and the caught-on-camera incident may have cost her the job.

An independent committee connected to the national Republican Party had sent out the pro-Kean mailers, which the Globe said were intended for Garden State voters in a ruby red portion of western Morris County in North Jersey. Kean, the son of popular former New Jersey Gov. Tom Kean, is locked in a ferocious battle for his House of Representatives seat in the state’s 7th Congressional District.

“I believe in the security of our elections and voting by mail, but this incident is deeply troubling,” Kean said in a Monday statement.
