Satan encourages Liam to approach Emma, and he ends up successfully getting a date with her to a Post Malone concert. Therefore, Post Malone is actually playing himself in Dear Santa, rather than a fictional character.
Post Malone is one of the most popular artists in the world, and he was director Bobby Farrelly and writer Peter Farrelly's top choice for Dear Santa. The Farrellys really wanted someone who would excite younger audiences, and they believed Post Malone was the perfect artist. In Dear Santa, Post Malone is featured in several scenes during his concert, in which he interacts with Satan, Liam, Emma, and Gibby, and even sings his hit song"Congratulations" in the movie.
