The Division of Thoracic Surgery of the Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking a post-doctoral associate in basic and translational research in mesothelioma and esophageal cancer. Our laboratory has obtained two R01s to study mechanisms of treatment resistance mediated through the mitochondria. The candidate will be the primary scientist to evaluate mitochondria pathways associated with treatment resistance. This project will focus on the epigenetic and mitochondrial mechanisms that prevent response to immunotherapy or chemotherapy. The project will require in vivo assessment in mouse models including already developed patient-derived xenografts (PDEs). Analyzes metabolomics with the knowledge basis to interact and work with the core facilities at BCM. Performs basic molecular biology and cell culture techniques with the ability to teach these techniques to fellows and students.
