NRL CEO Andrew Abdo says an 11-day mandatory break will be implemented from round three for players who suffer a concussion, eliminating match and contact training participation.

“This is a positive step forward as we continually think about ways in which we can make sure the game’s entertaining but also we’re providing a safe platform for players,” Mr Abdo said.

The 11-day break will result in players missing at least one game before returning to active competition, with the approval of the NRL doctor.
