, a new River Oaks/Uptown restaurant serving a mix of modern Japanese and French cuisines, opens its gilded doors to city’s eager see-and-be-seen crowd.
The restaurant, inspired by the hotspots of the Cote d’Azur “is poised to become a high-profile haven for foodies, social swells, localebrities and visitors” desiring socializing amid high-concept design, according to a press release. Local businessmen and entrepreneurs Ryan Henry, Adel Sadek, and Fasi Ty are behind the project, an opulent 8,000-square-foot space at 4411 San Felipe, tricked out in the latest high-tech bells and whistles.Designed by Studio Five Design co-founder and restaurant partner Sadek, Ciel swirls in shades of blue and white with imported Italian porcelain floors, marble tables, deep-blue velvet booths and navy, cream, and dusty rose chairs in the 240-seat dining room.
The menu from executive chef Joseph Geiskopf has created a menu featuring fish imported daily from Japan and New Zealand, as well as a selection of prime steaks, raw bar offerings, caviar, and sushi options. Geiskopf’s team includes chef de cuisine Frank Hernandez and pastry chef Micaela Victoria. Ciel will be open Wednesday through Saturday, 5:30 p.m. to 2 a.m. and Sunday 4 to 10 p.m. with live deejay music and pop-up entertainment nightly. In the spring Ciel will open a 140-foot open-air patio.
