Portugal’s Talkfest Forum and the Iberian Festival Awards have been postponed due to the spread of coronavirus
BARCELONA — Portugal’s Talkfest International Music Festivals Forum and the Iberian Festival Awards in Lisbon have been postponed by the Portuguese Music Festival Association in the wake of precautionary measures advised by the country’s health officials concerning the spread of coronavirus.
Talkfest, a conference focused for organizers of festivals in Portugal and Spain featuring presentations, workshops and concerts, and the companion awards ceremony for festivals, was to celebrate its ninth edition from March 13-15. New dates have been set for Oct. 15-17. "The management of Aporfest decided it would be wiser to postpone the event in order to protect not only the public from its events, but also all partners, sponsors and also our own work teams," the organization said in a statement on Tuesday .
Talkfest was to take place at the same time as Lisbon’s Tourism Fair, which was postponed late last week. According to Portuguese health officials, about 40 people are infected in the country. Portuguese airline TAP has cancelled 3500 flights, citing a lack of ticket sales due to coronavirus fears. Portugal's Presidentis working from home after visiting a school where a student had tested positive for the virus. Sousa himself has tested negative for the virus, according to communications from his office.
