The Portland State Vikings may have pulled off the craziest buzzer-beater of the college basketball season.
With the ball flying to the other side of the court, Vikings forward Isaiah Johnson jumped in the air, caught the pass, and hit the shot from 12 feet away from the basket. His teammates soon crowded him afterward and formed a dogpile on him.
After the game, Portland State head coach Jase Coburn praised his team for their buzzer-beating execution and even said they had practiced the play before. “I knew Hunter could throw that pass and I knew Isaiah had great hands and could make the catch,” Coburn told reporters. “That is probably a once-in-a-lifetime thing, but I will have to come up with a new play now if it ever happens again.”
