The Porter County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously Monday night to pay Organizational Solutions Development, Inc. up to $16,500 for the nationwide search for the county’s next development and stormwater management director after the departure Friday of Bob Thompson, who was with the department for over three decades.
following accusations he and numerous county officials worked to aid big business to the detriment of county residents.
At Monday’s meeting, however, there was defense of Thompson and pleas for the board to be open-minded to solar. Washington Township resident Vanessa Moore read a statement on behalf of Debbie Good, whose family signed an agreement to lease farmland to NextEra for the proposed Malden Solar Farm in Morgan Township.
“As a result, he took the best of those he found, added some things from one, added some things from another and wrote the Porter County Solar Ordinance 20-11. He did as he was asked and he submitted it to the Board of Commissioners.”
